Killed wallet. No more popup. Wonder what the deal is with the scroll screen? Not a show stopper but ............. New thread time regarding wireless printer connectivity to kubuntu.

Have you by any chance installed an Nvidia driver?

Edit the grub file again and under the line that says GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="" add a new line with GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX="1920x1080" replacing the 1920x1080 with your monitors resolution. Save the file and re-run sudo update-grub

I pasted the line you provide less the resolution so that I could add 1366x780. When I hit return, should I not see that newly created line? I ain't getting it. At GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="", don't I just click there, hit return, and a new line should appear fro me to enter what you want me to enter?

You don't click in nano, use the cursor keys to move down to the right place. I've been using nano for years and still do that every now then. These new fangled GUIs spoiling us with their features.

did save in a new "blank" line.
tried to exit. I then entered the required Y to save yet again. Can't get it to a point where i can enter sudo update-grub. Tried to x out of it (the window close x in upper right. It launches another window say work is being performed in sudo. I cancel the kill.

So you added a new line to /etc/default/grub containing
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX="1366x780"
Pressed Ctrl + O (Letter O) <Enter>
Pressed Ctrl + X
That should drop you back to the terminal from which you launched nano. You should just be able to run the sudo update-grub from there? If not, I'll have to come back to this tomorrow as my meds are kicking in and I'm getting very drowsy. I'd hate to mess up now!
