the last suggestion, that is how I actually installed it, you know, first Ubuntu then Kubuntu, with all the addons. As for the other suggestion, I was just going to wait for the new 8.10 version to come out, it is supposed to have kde 4.1x as the desktop environment. I am not one to dump anything linux just because of a few problems, I will give it every opportunity to work, as long as I can get some help in resolving the issue. I am not by any means a programmer of even the least ability, which is why I am here asking for help. I appreciate all replies and hope that anyone that has similar issues can find a remedy for their problem. we will wait and see it the problem fixes itself with the new kubuntu version.
