    Kfilebox

    I have dropbox running on 12.04 fine and I don't really understand how Kfilebox would add anything. Am I missing something?
    Thanks.

    It basically add kde integration. A nicer system tray icon, kde menus and windows, uses the kde system notifications etc...

      Apparently it's pretty buggy for 12.04 and doesn't seem to install very easily. Too bad but I think I'll take a pass on this one. Thanks.

        Kfilebox crashes the first time you install it, but it does put the dropbox daemon into the system tray. There there you can choose the option to start the daemon, which works fine with or without Kfilebox. If you restart KFilebox it starts OK and runs fine.

          On my 11.04 install I had both dropbox and kfilebox running. kfilebox crashed pretty regularly and I haven't even tried it with 12.04. Since it's my dropbox account, I really don't need notification that I updated a file - my memory isn't that bad.... ....yet!

            Hi, since my last upgrade to Precise kfilebox hasn't been working any more. I have tried to install both 0.4.8 and 0.4.9 but the account setting window is blank and I can't set it up.

            Any hint?

              KFileBox has not been properly compiled for Precise. The behavior of existing builds appears unpredictable -- some folks have no trouble, others do. It's probably better right now to use the standard UI.

                Standard UI means what? Thanks

                  The UI you obtain when you install the official Dropbox client for Linux.

                  After you install it, quit the application, delete the file ~/.dropbox-dist/libstdc++so.6, and restart it. The end result approximates a KDE application very well.

                    So that would work with dolphin too? I thought the only possibility was to use kfilebox... I'll give it a try, thanks for now!

                      Installed, but not getting any icon in the tray. Is that normal? How do I set it up?

                      Cheers

                        Steve, is that the one that uses Nautilus as the file manager?

                          Marco: no, you should have a small blue box icon. I would re-read the directions carefully and try a re-install.

                          Steve: Why remove that file? I've never done that and haven't had any issues I am aware of.

                            Mmm I don't think I did anything wrong... dpkg -i dropbox......deb then deleted ~/.dopbox-dist/libstdc++.so.6 as Steve recommended.

                            If I do dropbox start -i from console rather then launching from menu this is the output I get:

                            To link this computer to a dropbox account, visit the following url:
                            https://www.dropbox.com/cli_link?hos...4f96d&cl=en_US

                            That link brings me to a web page that says my computer is already linked to a dropbox account.
                            Any hint?

                            Thanks

                              I use the command line method:
                              Code:
                              $ cd ~ && wget -O - "https://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64" | tar xzf -
                              $ ~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd
                              Then to have it automatically start with each boot:
                              1. System Settings | Startup and Shutdown
                              2. Autostart page
                              3. Add Script button
                              4. Navigate to ~/.dropbox-dist and choose dropboxd

                              That library file contains basic UI elements. From what I can tell, it doesn't read system themes so it uses a statically-compiled built-in one. When you delete that library, dropboxd will use the system library in /usr/lib/{arch}-linux-gnu, which obeys themes. Now it looks nice and KDE-ish:

                              Preferences dialog takes on the KDE theme, too.
