No sound no wireless no touchpad after kernel update

I managed to boot from the harddisk and run Konsole. Once there, I issued the commands you instructed me earlier, but to no avail: there's no network connection (ifconfig returns only the loopback connection. Can I reinstall Kubuntu safely?
