    [SOLVED] WMF files

I have a boatload of graphics files in WMF format. The GIMP reads them just fine, so that's good, but I really need to be able to preview them, en masse, rather than select each one in the GIMP in order to get a preview. I thought I used to have Dolphin configured to preview these files, but if I did I'm missing something now, as I don't see any setting or plugin for this. Gwenview can't read them either. Any ideas?

look in dolphin>settings>general>previews tab,, and see if you have "microsoft windows images" checked.

        Now it seems to work....

          Not working for me.

I installed KDE WMF Thumbnailer 2.1 but nothing relating to WMF files got added to Dolphin's choices. I had already installed everything I could find that seemed related to WMF files [via Synaptic].

ETA: I just installed Karbon and now I have "WMF Images" in Dolphin's preview settings. But...it's still not showing previews of WMF files...

I deleted everything and started fresh, and now I have WMF files previewing in Dolphin.

Specifically, the files generated during the cmake/make/install process, deleted them. Repeated the cmake/make/install process, and I'm in business.

              Show previews for

The Karbon is adding the 'Show previews for WMF Images' and the KDE WMF Thumbnailer is adding ' Show previews for Windows MetaFile'.

Both options to preview the wmf files are working at here...

Check/Todo list when nothing seems to happen

              0) Close all windows, log out, restart

              1) Are all component installed to the correct places ?

              With the 'KDE WMF Thumbnailer':

              Code:
              /usr/share/kde4/services/wmfthumbnail.desktop
              /usr/lib/kde4/wmfthumbnail.so
              2) The KDE should automatically read information from the '.desktop' files - if this is not working you could manually start this. Run the kbuildsycoca4 :

              Code:
              kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental
              The kbuildsycoca4 is

              Code:
              ~$ kbuildsycoca4 --help
              Usage: kbuildsycoca4 [Qt-options] [KDE-options] [options]

              Rebuilds the system configuration cache.

              Generic options:
                --help Show help about options
                --help-qt Show Qt specific options
                --help-kde Show KDE specific options
                --help-all Show all options
                --author Show author information
                -v, --version Show version information
                --license Show license information
                -- End of options

              Options:
--nosignal Do not signal applications to update
--noincremental Disable incremental update, re-read everything
                --checkstamps Check file timestamps
                --nocheckfiles Disable checking files (dangerous)
                --global Create global database
--menutest Perform menu generation test run only
--track <menu-id> Track menu id for debug purposes
