Hi
I've installed the latest nVidia driver, 1.0-8776 (found here http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-8776.html). The installation, which has to be done without any running X-server, works fine except that the installer tells me to install the pkg-config package (which is installed?!).
I then change the xorg.conf file manually as described in the HowTo (http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/L...ection-02.html).
When I type startx, everything works fine and the glxgears -printfps command indicates that the driver works as it should.
However, when I reboot, the boot process freezes just before it is supposed to give me the graphical login-screen.
Starting in recovery mode and using startx doesn't work either.
Does anyone know of this problem (and perhaps the solution =))?
I think it's really strange that it works fine at first, but not after a reboot. I can't find any logical solution to this. If it works at first, what magic happens inside my computer that keeps it from working after a reboot?
If I have provided too little info, please tell me how I can help you help me.
Thanks for any suggestions!
