Conky transparency

Not sure best place to post this issue, but i am a newbie, if you have insight please let me know.
Running Kubuntu 19.04 Plasma 5.15.4
I imported my working Conky from Ubuntu 18.04, and at first it worked fine, but now I lost the transparency. The Conky background is black. I had someone else run the script in Ubuntu 19.04 and it works fine, so I suspect I've changed a something in my window or desktop settings while I was playing around in the new install.
Would appreciate any suggestions on fixing. Thanks

Usually conky background goes black when desktop effects are off.

Thanks. The Compositor had a 'crashed' notice, I re-enabled it and logged out/in and it's now working.
