What is the current method to enable mono audio playback for hearing accessibility?

Mono audio is an important accessibility option for the hearing impaired, Windows has it built into the OS and so does Android. We need a way to combine left and right channels into one. I am sad that Linux still does not offer us this accessibility feature, although I have found numerous workarounds to enable Mono playback, I have yet to find a method that works for me in Kubuntu 22.04. What is the most current and viable method to force mono audio output for all audio devices?

    Welcome to the forum,

I am on Kubuntu 24.04 and the follow procedure works for me like you want:

Follow the first procedure on this page:

    https://askubuntu.com/questions/1439...ewire-on-22-10

For me in the 24.04 i had to install Calf Plugins and reboot the system. For you i dont know. Easy Effects says that flatpack still have the Calf plugins incorporated. In my case i already had Easy Effects, so i prefer to install Calf plugins and not the entire Easy Effects Flatpack.

i tested what you want and it works.

You might look at EasyEffects which seems to have options for mono output

I don't think this problem is specific to any distro or desktop environment.

If you are using a Bluetooth device, you may have some output or sink/codec options that may offer mono output, instead of using the default "analog Stereo" or "Digital Stereo"
