    error processing package amdgpu-dkms

Hey. I'm kinda new and experiencing some issues that i think are somewhat similar. I got this trying to do an apt-get upgrade:

ERROR: Cannot create report: [Errno 17] File exists: '/var/crash/amdgpu-dkms.0.crash'
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.15.0-50-generic (x86_64)
    Consult /var/lib/dkms/amdgpu/5.6.0.15-1098277/build/make.log for more information.
dpkg: error processing package amdgpu-dkms (--configure):
installed amdgpu-dkms package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 10
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of amdgpu:
    amdgpu depends on amdgpu-dkms (= 1:5.6.0.15-1098277); however:
Package amdgpu-dkms is not configured yet.

dpkg: error processing package amdgpu (--configure):
    dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
No apport report written because the error message indicates its a followup error from a previous failure.
    Errors were encountered while processing:
    amdgpu-dkms
    amdgpu
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Idk. Gut tells me it's something to do with the AMD-integrated video card drivers, isn't it?

This is unrelated to the OP completely.
Without actual details, I am going to say that you are trying to install the AMDGPU-PRO drivers, which are for most situations (about 95%) completely unnecessary, and also completely a major pita to install in many to most cases.

Unless you have a specific need for a specific component that this provides, you are better off not bothering with them at all.

The built-in kernel and mesa drivers are quite great for gaming and daily use.

Now, to fix things, i don't know. We have no idea exactly what you have done, specifically, with any sort of details, specific files, or instructions followed.
I am going to venture that it probably is safest to uninstall all the relevant items, but some details will be handy to make sure we have the correct things for that.

      Hello!
Thanks, claydoh for info. Idk, I was just totally lost on what all of this might mean. I kindof shut my eyes and hoped if im going to ignore this, then the problem won't bother me, but this turned out to be the incorrect approach. Had to install openocd, but its turning out to be a bit of a hustle. I might have some more info to go off, or I might have irrelevant info:

      ...
      Building initial module for 5.15.0-52-generic
ERROR: Cannot create report: [Errno 17] File exists: '/var/crash/amdgpu-dkms.0.crash'

Again. No idea what to do here. I was before trying to install different drivers because i couldn't do an apt upgrade or an apt update, but now I cant install other utilities, idk. Just a little bit frustrating. I guess ill try it on my pc. It doesn't have these kinds of issues. I ran this in the terminal to get the response above: sudo apt install openocd
The previous time I ran sudo apt upgrade, and i had the thing i posted in the other comment. It is a Lenovo Ideapad with these specs:

      uname -v:

it would be helpful to know exactly what specific amdgpu-pro files you tried to install, and what specific instructions or how-to you were following, to help make sure better instruction s can be given, as there can be a lot of outdated info out there.

What needs to be done is to uninstall the amdgpu-pro packages you started with

I am going to suggest starting by following the official documents from AMD:
        https://amdgpu-install.readthedocs.i...e-amdgpu-stack

This should uninstall all the components, and at least (hopefully) get you back to a normal state, so you can at least properly update your system and install software.
