Just reinstalled Kubuntu 14.04 and have sound problems.

I have been reading the suggestions provided and recommendations until I am so confused, I cannot think clearly.

In an attempt to improve sound quality, I purchased an Audigy Sound Card. I was unable to get it to improve anything, but on my previous installation of Kubuntu 14.04 sound worked OK. Because it worked OK, I don't think the card has anything to do with my current problem.

Below is my "aplay -l". If anyone has a handle on this stuff and is willing to translate, I am a very willing listener.

Does this information give you any idea why I have no sound? Thanks!

BTW, when I open the Alsamixer, "Master" is not active, neither are bass or treble,

I just got my system back after a massive problem. I tried a few of the recommendation which did not apply to my computer. I am afraid that I will screw things up if I continue trial and error. I lost most of my most current data and only have one HDD of 4 working, but I do have a computer, so in that I am grateful. One drive still has data in it and may contain my missing info, but I would like to purge and format the other two to start over. It would be nice to have sound back first.
