Installing to USB stick [real installation, not live image]

Hi. I tried to install Kubuntu 15.04 to USB stick by selecting USB drive as manual install location. Everything went fine until it was time for the first start. Kubuntu starts to boot but stops after a long wait in BusyBox command prompt.

It is possible, yes. I have 15.04 on a USB thumb drive/stick (full install, not a live image). Sorry, I can't help with those errors.

        unfortunately..........

        it is all.....

about middle of the road hardware.........

a few months from now.......any hardware........

but they have to put it out the door, kick the tires, light the fires.........

        keep on tryin' on.........

Because.........most others will just hop to another distro.

I got similar errors when I tried to install Kubuntu from a USB stick on to an external USB 3.0 drive. Do you have any other USB storage devices plugged in? Can you try a USB 2.0 port instead of USB 3 port, or vice versa? Also, you might want to check your BIOS for something like "Legacy USB storage mode" and toggling that on and off.

All I can do is confirm it is very well possible to install Kubuntu on a USB stick, I have several of them.

            But so far I haven't tried 15.04.
