Is the "acpid" package a dependency for any other applications than power management?

acpid is a power management application that, I believe, puts a fixed and unwanted widget on the Desktop. I may be wrong, but acpid is the only Power Management package installed on my computer that I can find, and although it looks like a wonderful widget, it is less favorable, in my case, than having the unfettered desk space.

Muon Package Manager indicates that acpid is installed, but also refuses removal. If acpid is not a dependency for other applications, can it's removal be forced? Thanks!

Thanks Vinny. Doesn't look like it has anything to do with the onscreen image re: battery power. Do you have any idea what kind of package keeps track of battery power, like in your wireless mouse, and is offered by Kubuntu?
