    Hi...

    Welcome to the forums

You didn't go into enough detail about what happened with the install. Were you able to successfully install Kubuntu? If so, would you please open a terminal (Konsole) and post the output of:

    Code:
    lspci
Do you see any messages when you are trying to boot from the CD? What is your laptop exactly?

    Thanks...

Is the BIOS set to boot from the CD first, before the Hard Drive?

Thanks. Since the OP said "Reboot" I was thinking after the install for some reason.

If it's not, reboot the computer and pay attention as it starts booting back up; you'll see text instructions on the screen saying what button(s) to press to enter the BIOS setup. If you're not familiar with changing BIOS settings, be *EXTREMELY* careful. READ every prompt before pressing a key that will save your changes. If you're unsure of what you've done, READ the screen to see how to abort without saving any changes you might have made.

Once you're in the BIOS settings, find the option that allows booting from CD, then adjust its settings [depending on your computer] to enable that feature. Again, READ the screen!

On a Pavillion press F9 as soon as the HP logo appears.
It will then give you the option to boot from your cd drive.
It will also offer you to boot from a USB stick if it finds one.
You then insert your cd and press enter and away you go!

                Good luck!
