Issues after security update

Hello,
After running security updates, I am missing some parts of my system. I usually F2 to get Terminal, but Terminal is no longer being found as well as other folders such as my home (home folder says "could not start process unable to create iso-slave: klauncher said: unknown protocol 'file' "), root, office, games, etc.. Is there a way to restore or figure out what the heck happened to avoid it in the future Thanks in advance

Did the updater 'hang' mid-stream in your upgrade? It is has done that to me on two different machines now. I had issues similar to yours as a result.
