I have had many problems with the new kmail and decided to try evolution for a while. Most of my archived mail from gmail has been restored but I know get a message "Failed at message 1 of 175" and cannot properly close the dialog or Evoluition.

I don't use Evolution, so I don't know how much help I can be. If you could be a little more specific, that would definitely help. For example, when you get this message, "Failed at message 1 of 175," what exactly did you do that resulted in that error message? What are you trying to do? You said that most of your archived gmail has been restored, so what is it you're doing at this point?
