LTS means long term support. If you're happy with the state of development of 10.04 - kernels, KDE version, stuff like that. , You will receive updates for the desktop version for three years and five years for the server. With non-LTS releases updates are for 18 months.

    Release Desktop Server
    Version Date Support Support
    10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx 2010-04-29 2013-04 2015-04
    10.10 Maverick Meerkat 2010-10-10 2012-04
    11.04 Natty Narwhal 2011-04-28 2012-10
    11.10 Oneiric Ocelot 2011-10-? 2013-04

But do note that updates mean for the most part security fixes only. You will NOT get new major versions of KDE or the kernel, etc in general, though Firefox seems to be the major exception to this rule right now.

And what Claydoh says is important IF you don't want to jump through hoops to get KDE 4.6 on 10.04, which is already in Maverick and Natty.

Really it depends on your needs. If the latest-and-greatest updates are desired the support length isn't really a concern.

If you're running a server farm or something, it might be more important!
