kmail account time out

Good morning

I have installed kubuntu 10.4 on my dual core pentium desktop and its working well . this is a lovely operating system . The only prob so far is that kmail reports that the connection with the server has timed out , then eventually downloads my mail .Its set up to use ldap from my virgin media account.

Thunderbird on the xp partition on the same pc works fine .

Any suggestions would be welcome

Of course, you could use Thunderbird in Kubuntu.

You can also check the interval that KMail checks for new mail to a lower value.

Hi Alasta and welcome to the forum.

I've never used Ldap, but Snowhog's comment seems about right. The default is 5 min and I left it at that. I also set it to check on opening.

Thank you all , I did not want to remove kmail , the integrated look and feel is attractive.I will try yoyr suggestions though

Its an odd one . It says the account has timed out then when you click on the folder it downloads the mail ...
