Still..
I can attach old files, my profile picture was recently added.. did that from my ntfs partition and uploaded without a problem.
It only happens for recently created or saved files, wouldn't that suggest a communication problem in between firefox and linux where the way linux saves the files matters a lot?

Since Konqueror has no problem, and since I've never heard of a filename extension (8.3) format issue in Linux, the only thing it suggests to me is a Firefox issue.
