Hey Guys,
I recently installed linux - finally, after 2.5 years - again, and i've encountered three problems:
Now, i have googled a bit. I can't find any cohesive answers, but i think that it has to do with nouveau and a laptop video card. One of the things i noted was that it would be better to install the real nvidia-drivers, instead of the still experimental (?) nouveau drivers.
The system is a HP EliteBook 8540w - specs here under high end laptop .
Can any of you explain to me what the problem is, and how to solve it? Is it indeed necessairy to install nvidia-drivers, and how do i deinstall the nouveau ones?

- From time to time, the system does not boot, saying 'BIT pointer in loadval table is incorrect', the something about nouveau
- The system freezes when asked to suspend to RAM
- Even on Vista, my battery has about 4 hours when reading a pdf. Last time i tried on my linux, i had about 25 minutes.
