I'm a Gnome user who is trying out Kubuntu, and I can't connect to WEP networks. WPA connects fine, and so does Gnome on the same machine. I've tried Fedora KDE, and had the same problem, as well as Mint KDE on another machine, with the same results. I've searched all over the place, and while I see others have had the same problem as far back as Kubuntu 7, the only solutions I find are things like:
1. Use another network manager, like Gnome's. (REALLY? THE ONE SHIPPED WITH KUBUNTU DOESN'T WORK?)
2. Don't use WEP (WHAT IF YOU CAN'T CONTROL THAT?)
Surely there is a simple GUI way to do something so simple with what Kubuntu already ships. Please don't tell me that the developers of Kubuntu's latest and greatest 10.10 release deliberately selected and shipped a wireless manager that doesn't work. Anyone?
Thanks in advance!
