konsole terminal problem

The prob is when i put a command in like sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser and then prees return it then ask for my password but when i type it in nothing happens its like the keyboard is not working , i am running kubuntu 606.

When you use sudo from a konsole and it asks for a password, it doesn't echo anything to the screen, this is a feature not a bug. It's hiding your password from the person standing behind you. In order to go on to the next step you type <Enter> at the end of the password and sudo either runs the command you entered or tells you to try again.
