    Telnet Server Set-up Help

Just curious, how do I set up a telnet server so maybe I can give a few trusted friends shell accounts on my Kubuntu machine (running Karmic Desktop Edition) or access it myself over a LAN (my friends would access their standard user accounts over the Internet, while I would access my admin account exclusively over a LAN)? I understand the security risks of telnet vs. SSH, but I need this to be a simple setup. Could someone give me instructions that a Linux newbie can understand for setting this up?

Personally, I'm not quite as trusting. If I wanted to allow users outside my home network access to our computers, I'd use ssh rather than telnet. Why not use encryption when sending data over the net? I don't know whether that would slow things down for you or not. I do know that I used to access my office computer from home (and vice-versa) with ssh and it seemed reasonably responsive.
