[SOLVED - in a way]Character Palette (similar to Ubuntu)

    Hi there

I would like to know if Kubuntu 9.10 has something similar to Ubuntu with regards to the Character Palette that can be added to the panel?

Currently I've got the Character Map on my panel, but would make my life alot easier if I could access the Character Palette somehow, even if there's an applet for AWN would still be great.

    TIA

I'm not sure what happens when you try to install something from the gnome-applet package on a KDE desktop. You could try it and let us know if it works.

      Hiya Askrieger

unfortunately I don't seem to find it on KDE, but I think that's due to my lack of knowledge of truly understanding KPackageKit.
But no worries, it's not the end of the world for me. Just a few extra mouse-clicks and a few more seconds of typing.

Still prefer KDE over Ubuntu desktop. It just suits my attitude towards my laptop (poor thing must be on the go 90% of the time)

      Thanks anyway.

I don't understand kpackagekit either. The first thing I do after a fresh install is:"sudo apt-get install synaptic". BTW you could still install AWN, although it will bring in A LOT of other programs, but you'll already have many of them, if you install Synaptic.

Glad I'm not the only one. Most times I use Synaptic, it's just easier to find something.
AWN is absolutely fantastic (and easy to use). Love the look of it too.
I'm not too worried about getting or not getting the Character Palette to work. I've got an alternative, just takes a little bit longer, but not so long as too cause frustration.
Thanks for all the help anyway, it's appreciated.
