Slow Keyboard function = HELP ! ! !

    Slow Keyboard function = HELP ! ! !

    Every so often my version of Hardy Heron for one of the 3 users goes Sloooowww ! When pressing a key nothing happens for a bit then two characters appear !

    This is awful !

    I know holding the shift key down at some part ( ? ) or booting is supposed to bring up a window to turn the slow thing off, but it does not seem to work !

    Its driving me Nuts !

    Any ideas very very welcome !

    In System Settings, Keyboard & Mouse (IIRC), there is a setting for Slow Keys. Check it and ensure that it isn't enabled.
    Windows no longer obstructs my view.

      Not on Hardy Herom June 08 version of Kubuntu

      Thats the problem !

      What does "(IIRC)" mean ?

          Now this feature needs to have al least five 'Do you really mean it ?' warning boxes as it is DIRE !

          turning the keyboard off is on the same level as redefining the keyboard as a printer on the Master console of a Main Frame

            I just ran into that one yesterday while using the Gimp. I often hold down keys for long periods and the Gimp assumed that I had a disability related to that and made the change for me. I also tend to type quickly so for a while I thought the keyboard was disconnected and went to all kinds of trouble before I discovered that it was just sloooooooooooooooooooow. lol Oh well, easy to fix once you know what it is.

              Under Accessibility -Activation Gestures uncheck "Use Gestures for activating sticky keys and slow keys"

              This I believe will stop you from accidentally turning slow keys on.
