How do I use Compiz fusion with Kubuntu 8.10?

Hi again, I really love this operating system. But I was just wondering, could someone care to show me how to use compiz fusion? I first tried to install Synaptic in the Konsole, but this is what comes up:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package synaptic is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package synaptic has no installation candidate


Where did I go wrong at?

I read somewhere that Compiz doesn't work with 8.1

Compiz works with 8.10 just fine.

As for why Synaptic isn't installing, try sudo apt-get install synaptic in Konsole. Sorry, wish I could be of more help

to install synaptic use the konsole

sudo apt-get install synaptic

you may need to do

sudo apt-get update

first

then you can see what packges i have for compiz w/ some info here
