Installing Kubuntu 8.xx.y on a Win XP machine

Hello folks~

I am in the process of installing Kubuntu (likely ver. 8.04 due to the 8.10 issues tabled so far) on a Win XP machine (single HDD). Thought to post a couple of questions re.:

- The most efficient/effective (and idiot-proof) way to do this?, and
- Are there any 'alligators' lurking in the water waiting for me to step in?

before embarking on the 'adventure'.

Any (and all) suggestions or shared experiences would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Many of do this, exactly as you are thinking about.

You won't have any serious problems, you probably won't have any, but if you do, with XP they are easily fixed.

Just be aware that the Kubuntu bootloader (called GRUB) will overwrite the XP bootloader on your hard drive (in the MBR). Thus, if you ever wish to restore the XP bootloader, you will have to use your XP CD (or search around the Internet for equivalent). Not a big deal, though.
