    Problem after AUTOMATIC update

Hi, I've been using Kubuntu 8.04.1 (/etc/issue) for one month. Everything was OK up today.
After an automatic packages upgrade and reboot, the KDE didn't start.
I try to start it manually, by: /etc/init.d/kdm-dke4 start, with this error:

Not starting K Display Manager (dkm-dke4); it is not the default display manager.

    I'm using NVIDIA drivers.

    Thanks.

Not sure what you are trying to do. Should kdm-dke4 not be kdm-kde4? Should dkm-dke4 not be kdm-kde4? Does this file exist and can you start this way?

Instead of booting into your normal Kernel boot into Recovery mode. This has an option to "Try to recover Xserver. " Try that
