    aticonfig --initial error

I'm currently running Hardy with KDE4.1 and just tried to install the ATI proprietary driver. I created the .debs and installed them, however when I try the command "sudo aticonfig --initial -f" I get this error:

    Code:
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 146 (ATIFGLEXTENSION)
Minor opcode of failed request: 7 ()
Serial number of failed request: 8
Current serial number in output stream: 8
I did have one problem during install. The amdcccle package wouldn't install because fglrx-control was installed. I removed fglrx-control and I didn't get any more errors during install. I followed the "unofficial ati wiki" instructions and made sure I had all dependencies and libraries before attempting the install. Can anyone help?

    ETA

    fglrxinfo returns this:

    Code:
    display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon X1200 Series
OpenGL version string: 1.4 (2.1.7412 Release)
