GUI access to Kubuntu

Hello All,

Am very new to this Kubuntu.
Have however managed to install the OS onto a HP DL380 G2 server (Raid-0), install an application and print to a network printer I have. Have two questions ...

• I'd like to be able to connect to the server and use the GUI from an XP laptop. Can this be done and/or does anyone have any links that would direct me down the right path ??
  
• I have a 1-TB storage device attached to the network - is it possible for me to backup the server to this device ??
