    kubuntu hangs during installation

    hi all,

    sorry if this is a repeat question but i'm a total noob. this is my first time doing a full-install.

    i just got a new HP 2133 mini-note and when i tried to install kubuntu (and ubuntu), the process hangs after the splash screen. only a white screen appears. both kubuntu and ubuntu cds are mailed to me from www.ubuntu.org.

    the second result says
    The blank screen apparently is a known bug in Via Chrome laptops. Use the xforcevesa kernel option to get the livecd working and boot into X. If you switch to openchrome after installing, set Option "ForcePanel" in your xorg.conf to force X to drive the LCD panel first. Acceleration (if there is any) seems slower than in the original Suse installation, but my memory is hazy.

      thanks for your help. i have successfully installed kubuntu.
      now to get the wireless networking to work...
