    Kubuntu/Vista dual-boot

    Hi guys,

I'm a complete Linux novice, and I'm interested in dual-booting Kubuntu with Vista. I have a laptop with a single hard-drive, partitioned twice - C: and D:. My query is this: is it possible to run through the Kubuntu setup process (creating unallocated space on the system partition, etc.) without losing any data? I'm just a little twitchy about the risk of anything being deleted from my hard drive, as I have a large music collection, a lot of documents, etc. Would it be prudent to make a complete system backup first?

    Thanks a lot,

    M.

YES, absolutely -- at least your valuable data. Windows can be reinstalled ....

Here's good guidance on the dual-boot setup:
