    sudo apt-get install win32codecs

    Download this file to your desktop and then do this
    Code:
    cd ~/Desktop
    sudo dpkg -i w32codecs_20050412-1plf4_i386.deb

      There are two possiblities. (1) You're using an AMD64 or PPC processor, where win32-codecs don't work. (2) You don't have your universe and multiverse repositories activated.

      Read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats and then get a sources.list file from http://www.ubuntulinux.nl/source-o-matic

        w32codecs are no longer in Universe or Multiverse.
        They've been taken out, along with libdvdcss2.
