Download this file to your desktop and then do thisCode:cd ~/Desktop sudo dpkg -i w32codecs_20050412-1plf4_i386.deb

There are two possiblities. (1) You're using an AMD64 or PPC processor, where win32-codecs don't work. (2) You don't have your universe and multiverse repositories activated.

w32codecs are no longer in Universe or Multiverse.
They've been taken out, along with libdvdcss2.Comment
