How to move /home and Amarok settings to another drive

I've reinstalled Kubuntu on another partition, so that I can have a separate partition for my /home

Is there a way i can use my entire old /home and retain my old amarok database??

I've read tutorials on compressing your /home to a tar and extracting it in the new location, but I'm not sure if that'd keep my amarok database(?)

copying the amarok directory half works, but I get this error when loading

      MySQL reported the following error:
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
You can configure MySQL in the Collection section under Settings->Configure Amarok

edit: See http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3093170.0 for how I solved this problem
