Could it be a problem with the .iso files you are burning? I had a similar problem with the GRUB install hanging and tracked it down to something going wrong either in the download of the .iso or the burning to cd. I re-downloaded and burned the .iso and all was well.

My system was working well until Sunday. I have a dual boot system with WinXP on one disk and Linux on another. Since Sunday upon boot, my PC stops at the Grub 17 error. Although I know the cause, I still can't figure a fix. I had issues with my Bluetooth modem, so I decided to format my Linux disk and re-install. Everything went well untill the PC reboots for the final install, and again I get the Grub 17 error. What now? I can't even get WinXP to boot. (The rescue funtion on the XP cd always tells me there is no HD disks present. Was like that from forever, but with an install, the disks is detected with no problem.)
