hi, I want to upgrade to gutsy but I notice I do not have adapt manager when I go kde/system

hmmmmmmmmmm -- that's a weird one! I take it you're running Feisty?

I guess you can open a Konsole and enter the following (this is somewhat guesswork as I'm looking at a non-Ubuntu list of debian adept packages, but it should be close to right):

sudo apt-get install adept adept-common adept-installer adept-manager adept-notifier adept-updater

But I can't imagine how you installed a Feisty system with no Adept .... :P
