Sharing files over the internet from windows 98 to Kubuntu

Hello everyone,

I need to be able to share my files from my server (windows 98 because I can't upgrade it to linux because I don't have a CD drive for it) over the internet to my friend that has kubuntu. How can I do this without setting up an FTP? I also can't find a VPN program that is compatible with win98.
