If you have copied text output that contains formatting (colors, highlighting, etc.), please do not enclose it in QUOTE or CODE tags. Just right-click your mouse and choose "Paste Without Formatting" or similar (Paste as plain text).
IIRC in Debian you have install to install all programs with apt-get or aptitude (I say this is a good thing)
In Kubuntu you get a system that works out-of-box. (also good)
I thing Debian repositories are more strict with restricted drivers and "universe(ropository) softare.
It actually depends on what you want. I'm no expert here.
