OK, I imagine I can but then I wonder about the buffering needed so I ask this question. btw the background is that someone is having real pain trying to burn DVDs on windows so I am tempted to suggest linux live CD as an answer, but am I correct in thinking that KB3, which I find unbelievably good, is the answer here or will he have problems?

Re: can I burn dvds when using live kubuntu CD
If you have one cd/dvd reader and another cd/dvd reader/writer a sh... load of ram and much patience, yes.
Change your boot prefs in your bios to the reader, put your live cd in the reader and boot into the live cd.
Will he/you have problems? Try it and find out. It depends on his/your hardwareHP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)

Re: can I burn dvds when using live kubuntu CD
thanks, it is two drives and burning from one to the other, I came up with and offered this
http://www.cdburnerxp.se/features.php
anyway I am slowly trying to mix in linux solutions to windows problems, this time I don't think it is not suggestable from what you say
(but I still want to find ideas of why the live linux CD is a good thing to keep handy. It is not us that need convincing but they hate the usual pitch of linux being so much better, free, etc., since they don't want to give up their systems and believe me the amount of trouble I have just trying to get them to give up the norton antivirus after removing their malware, "oh no, but it is paid up till the end of the year" they will say)every day is a gift

Re: can I burn dvds when using live kubuntu CD
Well, this would be one good reason to keep live cd handy:

of course there are others and the above also can apply to a kubuntu live cd.
