CONFIGURING BROADBAND INTERNET

I AM A NEW MEMBER TO KUBUNTU. I HAVE INSTALLED KUBUNTU. WHILE INSTALLING THE PC USED TO HANG AFTER SOME TIME AND SO I THOUGHT KUBUNTU IS NOT INSTALLED. HOWEVER TO MY SURPRISE IT IS INSTALLED.

NOW I WANT TO CONFIGURE BROADBAND INTERNET IN KUBUNTU

HOW TO DO IT?

If you have a "raw" CAT-5 network connection (from a router, switch, etc.) just plug in a network cable into your network card, etc. Ubuntu/Kubuntu has networking built-in and it runs great with high speed net connections. I use a DSL modem with a Linksys WRT54G box with my Linux box and XP box...

If you had a network cable installed and connected to the outside world it was probably detected on install.

i am from india. i have got sify broadband connection last week.

i had installed kubuntu before the sify broadband was installed.

now if i run kubuntu i do not know how to access internet because the network is not configured in kubuntu

i am accessing internet through windows xp platform

i hope somebody will be able to guide me

Has your broadband company provided you with a USB ADSL modem? What hardware do you use in Windows to connect?
