    Restricted Formats

Hello. I read the wiki on restricted formats and have used it before; however, I wonder if installs things I don't need. For example, following the instructions I installed ogle, which I don't need since I use gxine. Also, a lot of gstreamer files are installed, but I used xubuntu. I know I need win32codecs, libdvdread, libcss, flash, and lame. I need plugins for firefox, I rip cds, burn cds, dvds, dvd videos, etc. I use xdvdshrink, jrip, jajuk, etc. So which steps of the wiki can be ignored if I'm not using kde or gnome applications? Thanks.

I imagine xubuntu would be using gstreamer, but it boils down to what apps that distro is using. As XFCE is gtk-based, I imagine most of the default multimedia apps are gtk based, which would most likely mean gstreamer stuff is needed. But if you install a KDE app such as amarok, you would need the things Kubuntu needs
