starting vnc4server at boot and how to check it

Hi,

I have installed vnc4server but unable to access Kubuntu via web remotely. I added a

Load "vnc"

to my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file in the Module section but don't think it is working. Is that wrong? What can I enter at command line when I SSH in to tell if it is up. I already created a password using vncpasswd.

to see if it's running you can do:

ps aux | grep vnc

Not sure how you are trying to connect remotely via web but it sounds like you might need to do some port forwarding of your router.

Hi,

Thanks but doing the 'ps aux | grep vnc' returns only one line that contains 'grep vnc' which I assume means that it is not loaded and is just returning my 'ps aux | grep vnc' command. I am familiar with port forwarding but it does me no good unless I can get vnc4server to automatically start.
