OPEN THE REPOSITORIES

Hello all, first time user of Kubuntu. Tried to open the repositories by following the instructions i found in the forum.

did "kdesu kwrite /etc/apt/sources.list"
removed all the # marks from the required lines

ran "kdesu apt-get update"
and i am getting errors that some of the repos cannot be found. Is this normal or am I doing something something wrong. Also does Kubuntu automatically notify you when there is an update, or security patch release??

Try

sudo apt-get update

and run it from the command-line, not the "Run" dialogue box.

Aysiu, thanks for responding to my post. I am running the "sudo apt-get update" from the command line and not the run dialog box. The error message I am getting is:

aysiu, that last post fixed my problem. ran "sudo apt-get update". came back without any errors. all repos updated.
