Hi, everyone. Sorry for the extended delay away -- much biz travel lately.
Those of you who track security information are likely aware of the recent discovery of a serious vulnerability in the Bash shell, one of the many command shells in *buntu and the default shell when you open a console window. More information:
Numerous exploits are already in the wild, including scripts that attack via Apache's CGI path and via dhclient, which calls Bash to plumb networking details.
A patch is available from Ubuntu and is already in the security repository for 10.04 LTS, 12.04 LTS, and 14.04 LTS. Please update your systems as soon as possible.
