Windows Blinds on Windows Server 2003

I installed Windows Server 2003 on my computer just to play with it an learn about it. I want to make it have a bitchin' theme (can I say that here?). I already did this and tried to install Window Blinds but I cannot get it to work.

I have tried three different versions. 4, 5.5, and 6.3 (I think, it's the newest one at the time I am posting this). 4 works the best because the start menu button is changed and the buttons in Dialog boxes are changed, but the Window borders are still "Classic Windows"

It would be really cool if I could get WB running on this machine...

Did you try to enable the Windows Themes service, setting it from Disabled/Manual to Automatic? This usually helps ;-)

if necessary i have a patched ultheme.dll that will allow your themes to work natively (i use it for my xp install so you might want to keep your original if you try) you just replace the dll (goes in win/sys32) and put your themes in the resorces folder (windows\resorces\themes\)

Would that allow me to use Window Blinds?

that will remove your need for winblinds to change your windows borders.

you can use any mstheme or msstyle with this, as long as the one you want is in one of those two formats you will be good...

Why is a thread completely about a Windows issue here in the Kubuntu Forum? This question should have been asked/posted on the appropriate Windows Forum.

No, if you actually check the listing on the main forum index it says
Post questions here regarding the switch from Windows or Mac OS to Linux
With that in mind, to entirely change your theme in Kubuntu, all you have to do is right-click on the desktop and fiddle there in the desktop configuration. In fact, from there you can even call up a dialog to browse popular and new themes from kde-look.org! If you're using something like OpenBox then LXappearance (which is in the repos, part of LXDE) and ObConf are your friends. Etc etc.

Also worth mentioning is that you can install KDE on Windows. Check it out over at http://windows.kde.org/.

I made a request for a section to talk about Windows stuff and the admin made this section and posted it in that thread. I guess there was some miscommunicaion there...

Probably more like a bit of tongue-in-cheek-ness going on here; why to have a Windows section on the Kubuntu forums? To talk about how to transition over to Linux from Windows, obviously! :P

Re: Windows Blinds on Windows Server 2003

I think that just because this is a Linux forum that doesn't mean there shouldn't be a Windows section. Some things may apply to both, like networking a machine running Windows and one running Linux or whatever.

Either way despite their differences, Windows and Linux are both OSes so they have some things in common. Maybe instead of considering this a "Linux forum" consider it a "Computer Forum" that way it makes sense to cover Linux and Windows.

Anyways, I need any help with this I can get, so if a person who can help me is there then I will post here. Most Linux users have used Windows at some point or still do.
