How do I get my digital camera software to install

I'm new with kubuntu and linux, this is my first time working with the os ever. I'm having problems loading the drivers and programs from the cd. I realize that it might have something to do with program being designed for windows, I was just curious if there was a way that I can get the drivers and the picture viewer programs to work. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me.

Take a look at the program menu and under Graphics you should see digiKam Photo Management. Start it up, it should prompt for a location of your photos and just click ok unless you want to change that. Then one it starts up select the Camera menu then add camera. If your camera is connected, try the auto-detect and if that doesn't work select Add and pick your camera from the list, click Ok and you should be good to go.

You'll then select your camera from the 'Camera' menu and it should show your photos on the camera.

The list of cameras supported is pretty good so unless you have something really really new (and different that previous models) it should work.

Now I can't remember if digikam is installed by default with edgy (hopefully that is what you have) but in case it isn't just run adept and then look for digikam and install it and the plugins too. There's also kipi plugins that you can install. Again, this is only if it's not installed by default, I only have a fresh feisty install to check since my edgy install is older than my length of remembering those sort of things.
