    Moving to new hard drive

I have Kubuntu 6.06 installed and have it just the way I want it on a 20GB hard drive. I just received a free 80GB from a buddy who was upgrading his HD on a Win-machine. Is there someway I can move my system to the new drive or do I have to re-install everything?

    Relative Noob to linux,

I use dd off 'knoppix' to clone hard disk partitions that is one way you could do it.

I was just looking at the same thing myself yesterday and found this page:

Looks pretty simple. Now that 100GB 7200rpm drives are at a reasonable price, I am looking at upgrading mine. Good luck.

        Devlin,

if I were you, I would add the new disk and move my home partition (as well as an addititional data partition, if applicable) to the new disk, while leaving the operating system were it is - is easy to be done (see this article for a "how to"), and it adds some extra security to the system (see these notes for a reasoning).
