Need help installing specialized program

Hi all,

I'm trying to install a program that encodes a video file created by a smart phone app, Torque Pro and an OBD2 adapter. To install the video encoder you need to install three programs, latest version of Java, Xuggler, and TorqueEncoder5.jar. I already have the latest version of Java installed, I think I can handle Xuggler, it's the jar file I am really stuck with. I have no idea how to install TorqueEncoder5.jar file. If anyone feels like looking over the website and providing me a few pointers on how to get this whole mess installed I would really appreciate it.

jar files are not installed per se. You run them by calling

java -jar path-to-jarfile.jar

One can easily create a menu item pointing to it by right clicking on the menu item to bring up the editor, and create a new item. Okay, thanks to claydoh I got TorqueEncoder5.jar running, however, it does not see that I have my smart phone connected to the usb port. I tried both plugging in my phone prior to starting the torque encoder and also after I started it. I have the usb on my phone set to see my sd card. This thing works in XP but I was hoping to get torque encoder to work in linux. I think I have xuggler installed properly, anyways everything seems to be included in it's directory. Oh well, I will keep looking around and hopefully someone else has managed to get everything working. Thanks again for all the assistance. Since I did get the jar file to run I'm going to mark this thread solved.

From what I have dug up about one of the programs to make the encoder program to work, xuggler, it seems that it only works well on XP, it's a no go on Win7. I'm getting the same feeling regarding xuggler and Linux. Most of the post / how to install, articles are a couple of years old. Oh well, hopefully the Torque Pro folks will update the export process to something more standardized.
