    Kernel 6.8

I see kernel 6.8 is available in the repo. Has anyone installed it?

    Any problems?

    Explain what you see, please?
I'll check when I get to my computer, but if the 6.8 was a proper Ubuntu HWE kernel, backported from Noble and not an OEM kernel it would be installed automatically in *buntu 22.04, and thus neon.

I *think* that LTS releases stop getting new kernels over the next LTS is out, at least that seems to have been the case in the past from Ubuntu.

But.....booting the PC, it looks like the 6.8 is the current HWE "edge" kernel, which is sort of a pre-release for early testers , usually about a month or so before officially becoming the next LTS kernel. The timing is right for it

I usually install these when I notice, but I hadn't seen this yet. With neon moving to a Noble base soon enough, I'll probably skip it, since my current hardware isn't at all current. 7th gen Intel on my HP elitedesk Mini, and 10th Gen on the Chromebook .

Now, the Chromebook does run Fedora atm, which does have 6.8, but I use it mostly for the more current audio and/or driver stack so it has working sound, which I couldn't seem to do on neon/*buntu 22.04, even with modifications.
Noble has the parts in place for this, just like Fedora 40 does.

I saw it yesterday in the Update Manager of my Mint Cinnamon 2.3 machine. I guessed it would also be available in Neon since they share the same
      base *buntu release.

Mint 22 beta uses the 6.8 kernel and when I booted the USB stick on this machine to look at it, I was pleasantly surprised to see I didn't need the
      RTL KMOD for my WiFi!

Yeah, it is using the Noble 24.04 base.[CONSOLE]
And the 6.8 kernel IS available to Neon/22.04 users a little early via linux-image-generic-hwe-22.04-edge, so it might be useful for you there, in terms of your WiFi.

I installed the edge kernel you referenced but I still had to install the Realtek 8821C PCIe Wi-Fi driver...
