    Yakuake issue

Had to totally reinstall KDE neon User Edition after this mornings Plasma 6 massive update to my system. Won't belabor the details, just need help resolving why Yakuake when launched, reports:

Yakuake was unable to load the Konsole component.
A Konsole installation is required to use Yakuake.
Konsole is, of course, installed! What's going on, and how do I fix it?
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Hm, Yakuake 24.02.0 works in my KDE neon test installation (upgraded from Yakuake 23.08.4 and to Plasma 6.0 from Plasma 5.27.10) - the only issue I have is that at the top the upper half of the first line is missing, probably due to the floating Plasma Panel I have there…

I just additionally tested it in a VM (new KDE neon installation): also no problems with Yakuake 24.02.0 there (except the one I mentioned above).

Did you try to simply sudo apt reinstall yakuake and/or konsole?

PS: And you could also sudo apt clean before…

      Yes, of course.

There was a HUGE update this morning; 430+ packages; which I'm pretty sure was the Plasma 6 push. It broke my KDE neon User Edition installation. I created another VM and installed the OS again, using the neon-user-20240122-2226.iso. After that was done, I installed yakuake and that's when I started seeing this issue. I have NOT run apt full-upgrade again. I have simulated it, and pkgProblemResolver identified 6 packages that were problematic. It said it was fixing these by removing specific packages. At the end of the process, there were no ERRORS, at least none reported. But, stuff got removed that shouldn't have been, leaving my system unstable. Some things just didn't work, including normal logging out and/or shutting down. I had to force close the VM. When I rebooted that VM, KDE neon User Edition would not load.

I'm not going to do the apt full-upgrade until a simulated run doesn't show pkgProblemResolver.

        No idea.
        actually
But: you need konsole-kpart as well, which is the part that displays the actual terminal in Konsole/Dolphin/Yakuake

What versions of things do you have?

        Code:
        $ apt policy yakuake
        yakuake:
        Installed: 24.02.0-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build27
        Candidate: 24.02.0-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build27
        Version table:
        *** 24.02.0-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build27 500
        500 http://archive.neon.kde.org/user jammy/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
        23.08.4-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build25 500
        500 http://archive.neon.kde.org/user jammy/main amd64 Packages
        23.08.3-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build24 500
        500 http://archive.neon.kde.org/user jammy/main amd64 Packages
        23.08.2-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build23 500
        500 http://archive.neon.kde.org/user jammy/main amd64 Packages
        21.12.3-1ubuntu1 500
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jammy/universe amd64 Packages

Konsole and konsole-kpart should have identical versioning

        Code:
        $ apt policy konsole
        konsole:
        Installed: 4:24.02.0-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build35
        Candidate: 4:24.02.0-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build35
        Version table:
        *** 4:24.02.0-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build35 500
        500 http://archive.neon.kde.org/user jammy/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
        4:23.08.4-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build33 500
        500 http://archive.neon.kde.org/user jammy/main amd64 Packages
        4:23.08.3-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build32 500
        500 http://archive.neon.kde.org/user jammy/main amd64 Packages
        4:23.08.2-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build31 500
        500 http://archive.neon.kde.org/user jammy/main amd64 Packages
        4:21.12.3-0ubuntu1 500
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jammy/universe amd64 Packages

My guess is you didn't get all the updates, so try again, and maybe try and apt -f install to see if that pulls in missing things.

Also, common to neon only you may want to quickly fix these:
        https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481938
        https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481945

Some packaging snafus hgere and there, methinks.
Plus the missing sound theme, Ocean (ocean-sound-theme)

          That may not happen.
I often see pkgProblemResolver, but the offered output is usually what I expect.

          What packages?

I have two upgrades with no major drama. I set aside some work time for this, and was bale to go back to working early

Kwrite is now at version 24.02.0, note the conflicts are from the older versions (23.08.4), not just the Qt/Kf5-to-Qt/Kf6 moves.
