    HOWTO: Include hyperlinks in posts - the SHORT way!

    For those who have been posting to this Forum (as well as any others) for any length of time, this How To will be passe. For our newer members, you will make the rest of us very happy as your posts won't create WIDE THREADS.

    When you post, and you desire/need to include the url to a site, follow this simple procedure. The url example is:
    Code:
    http://someplace.com/first_directory/weird_characters_and_such/more_stuff/etc
    First, click on the third icon from the left on the bottom row of the Add BBC tags: (it's the one that looks like the Earth). This puts the following into your post:
    Code:
    [url][/url]
    Replace the first ] with =] so you have this:
    Code:
    [url=][/url]
    With your already copied url link you want us to know about, put your cursor between the = and ] and paste. Using my example url you now have:
    Code:
    [url=http://someplace.com][/url]
    Now, put your cursor between the the last two ][ and type the description that will be what we all see:
    Code:
    [url=http://someplace.com/first_directory/weird_characters_and_such/more_stuff/etc]You have to check this out![/url]
    If you want to color the displayed text; blue say, then hightight your description and click the Change Color dropdown box and select Blue so that you then have:
    Code:
    [url=http://someplace.com/first_directory/weird_characters_and_such/more_stuff/etc][color=blue]You have to check this out![/color][/url]
    resulting in the final product that we all see as:

    You have to check this out!

    As I imagine that I am one of the guilty as well as one frustrated by wide screens, my apologies and my thanks. Happy New Year.

      We've all done it!
      We've all had to deal with it. :P

      I felt it better to put a simple guide together for the benefit of everyone not used to using the available BBC tags, than to let even one, potentially "less than cordial" comment get posted concerning someones 'way to wide' post.

      And, Happy New Year to you as well!

        If that's too complicated for you, there's one of my favorite websites.

        Tiny URL

          I have and do use tinyurl, but I quit using it on forums as folks are suspicious of links and want to see where they point before they click them.
